Size of Baby

60mm crown to rump.

Development of Baby

The placenta is now fully formed and weighs more than your baby at this stage. This is due to the fact that baby’s skeleton and internal organs are not yet fully developed. At this point the skeleton is rapidly developing and can start to be seen on an x-ray.

Maternal Symptoms

It is usually around this time that morning sickness will start to subside (although some people do experience it beyond this point). You may feel able to get back to your normal routine for a while.

Things to Consider

You are now at the end of your first trimester and are moving into your second trimester. Traditionally, this is the point that families would announce their pregnancy to their friends and family, although today many people do this earlier, and some announce it later. Telling family and friends is exciting, however it does open the door to comparison, advice, and storytelling (both good and bad). It is important to keep in mind that people experience different things at different times and just because a friend or family member experienced something, it doesn’t necessarily mean it will be the same for you, and vice versa.
