Development of Baby

The hair on your baby’s head (if they have any) will be lengthening, as well as their fingernails which will reach, and sometimes extend over, the end of their fingers.

Maternal Symptoms

Over the next few weeks you may notice that you start to experience Braxton-hicks. These are a rhythmic contraction of your uterine muscles. These contractions help to build oxytocin receptors on your uterus which in turn help each contraction during labour to be more effective. Not everyone experiences Braxton-hicks, and not everyone who experiences them knows that they are experiencing them as they are often painless and happen whilst you are sleeping.

Things to Consider

Your 34 week appointment is coming up. All the usual checks will be carried out during this appointment. It is also around this time that, if you haven’t already, complete your antenatal education including filling in your birth plan and birth preferences.

As a male this situation is very passive (in my opinion) as you are there to support your partner as she brings your child into the world that she carried for both of you for so long. During this time, you feel hopeless, useless, wrong, incompetent… Need I go on?…
