This week’s blog post looks a little different, but it still has the same theme. In today’s blog I will be sharing more about how the Parent Education Company came to be, the reason that it was set up, and why I am so passionate about Parent Education as a whole. My first career was as a Midwife, I worked as a Social Midwife and Parent Education Lead for a large hospital in North London. As a Social Midwife I cared for vulnerable women and families in the local community, and as a Parent Education Lead, I delivered antenatal classes. I have always had a passion for teaching and education, even as a small child I was the one who wanted to play teachers after school, so I was particularly excited when the opportunity arose to attend Professor Mary Nolan’s workshop (she is a much admired Professor of Perinatal Education). With the tools, tips, and techniques from her workshop myself and a colleague set about re-structuring the antenatal education that was offered at the Trust, and it took off.
