Your baby is now fully formed and covered in Vernix Caseosa, a thick, white substance that protects their skin from drying out in the amniotic fluid.
There are many different symptoms experienced throughout pregnancy and everyone’s experience is different. For example, as you have an increased blood volume and you have vasodilation due to various factors including the increased presence of the hormone relaxin, you may find that your gums bleed as you brush your teeth, or you have an increased incidence of nosebleeds. Both of these are normal, however if you feel it is happening excessively and you are concerned, you can let your Midwife, GP, or dentist know.
Your baby’s measurements now shift from being measured from crown to heel rather than crown to rump as they have been previously. As they get bigger and you start to feel them move more you can start interacting with them and engaging your partner or support person in the conversation about movements too. This can be a helpful reminder to keep track of the pattern of movement that will be developing over the next few weeks.
